Linkvertise appeared as a means to monetize exclusive content online – a solution for the problem one viral gamer was facing. Which is why, back in 2019, the CEO of the company had the idea to come up with a profitable way for both content creators (generating game mods, add-ons, various designs, and content) and the users interested in their products could use for free.

According to CrunchBase, Linkvertise was founded one year later, in 2020, as an innovative platform offering creative content, online marketing, SEO, traffic monetization, and web maintenance services. 

According to their internal data, Linkvertise claims that a huge pool of unique users and content creators operates on it.

It also allows them to slow down user journeys and earn more from added layers of interaction. Working as a Pay Per Click (PPC) platform, Linkvertise pays based on traffic (tier), content quality, and engagement. 

However, as a link-discovery site, it works by forcing users to sit through ads or perform certain tasks (i.e., wait for a timer, click or download various files or software, watch videos, enable browser notifications, etc.), to unlock the content they’re looking for.

Who is Linkvertise Best For

Linkvertise is best suited for monetizers who prefer to divert users through an access step, before reaching promised content. Most often used to share game mods, downloadable files, software, or gated content.

As a first thing, you’ll need to create a Linkvertise account – a pretty standard process. 

Then, once you pass through the Linkvertise login, you’ll see the dashboard. From here, you can track RPM (Return Per Mile), clicks, impressions, balances, and individual link performance, as you can see in the image above.

Based on the information Linkvertise provides, the RPM depends on monetized actions, ad interactions, and the dropout rate. They also suggest settings based on the user’s motivation to get the content, explaining how stricter monetization can increase your revenue per user.

While at the same time, they argue against this practice, as it may lead to fewer users actually reaching the target link – smaller completion rate.

From the Dashboard, you can also create your shortened link. At this step, you can either create link-by-link or just monetize all the links from your site by installing their API. If you do go with the API, you’ll have to choose which links to whitelist and which to blacklist, blocking them from monetization.

However, publishers and creators (such as yourself) earn with Linkvertise only when users complete a several-step flow. 

Moreover, you can also choose whether to show your content only through your website or also feature it on Linkvertise’s platform. Based on this aspect alone, the funnel might include more steps, as follows:

6. Get redirected to the actual link where they can finally perform the action desired (watch, download, access, install, etc.)

Of course, if you enable your post to be shared on the Linkvertise platform as well, when users navigate the Linkvertise platform, they skip the first two steps. Also, they can get a paid account to skip the timer and the ads. However, from Linkvertise, they can also follow other creators.

While using the API, you don’t get the option to personalize your posts, so they won’t be featured on your Linkvertise account. 

Additionally, it seems that they give publishers the chance to monetize through a second layer by featuring Linkvertise ads. However, this function might be under construction at the moment of editing this content, as there are no clear specifications on the formats publishers can use aside from them stating “Linkvertise can be used with almost any content format”, while the page mentioning this step seems to have some elements missing.

Aside from the publicly available information, there wasn’t anything much on the type of traffic they provide, but we managed to find their main traffic audience by GEOs:

Linkvertise for Advertisers 

As we explained in the monetization part above, this platform has users engage with it in different ways in order to access promised content. All of which points towards an advertiser-side platform – but one which is not very easy to find. 

And keep in mind that they’re relying on forced engagement, pushing the users through several funnel steps. 

This raises the question of the quality of the users you reach through Linkvertise, their genuine interest, and LTV (LifeTime Value). But that’s a gap that reviews might help us cover, and we’ll see all about them later.

However, at the moment, there isn’t a lot of information available for advertisers interested in featuring ads on this website, other than a landing page with very little information and a login page. 

Moreover, while researching for this article, we’ve mostly just seen the same ads, both on the platform flagged accordingly, as well as after having engaged with their posts in search of links.

If you’re interested in Linkvertise to make money, this is what you really came here for, especially since the Linkvertise payout topic only covers that they provide budget-friendly and “really favorable” CPCs.

Obviously, we couldn’t take this for an answer, so we checked some of their video reviews, and the image below is a screenshot from one such example on the Linkvertise pay.

However, keep in mind that this is one of their affiliate-related short videos. In other words, the numbers might not reflect their actual monthly reality.

As for their minimum withdrawal, that is $10, allowing creators to make two requests monthly. Which, according to their help page, they process within 5-9 business days, depending on the method and location.  

Third-party sources, reviews, and forum entries mention Linkvertise earnings between $30–$70 for 1000 clicks. And although they don’t publish any GEO-related rate tables, the same sources mention higher payouts for Tier 1, while lower tiers generate significantly lower returns. 

Whereas, for affiliates, the remuneration is publicly available: $200 per short video and 5% of new customers’ income.

Linkvertise’s Trustpilot score is only 2.4 out of 5 stars, from hundreds of reviews. Upon a closer inspection, we have noticed that several unprompted reviews are coming from verified accounts, praising their efforts and payouts from some of their creators, as this one below:

However, most (if not all of their displeased users) are, in fact, the actual customers who are trying to access the links and end up with a very bad experience. 

We’ve tried really hard, but couldn’t find a single truly positive review from a user trying to access links. Unless you want to consider the one below, who, although gave them 5 starts still claimed it’s not working anymore.

Whereas, when it comes to unpleasant experiences, we’ve found everything: from unsuccessful link retrieval upon payment, to complaints regarding the timer waiting period, to failed subscriptions, or premium removal. The reality is that a lot of people are complaining of an unpleasant experience.

Although Linkvertise appears to provide a positive experience for most creators, on the users’ end, it seems to do a lot more damage than good. Here is what we managed to gather based on user feedback and reviews:

• Based on user reviews on TrustPilot and Reddit Linkvertise frustrates users and makes them doubt your content quality and seriousness – while incentivized traffic might work best for this type of content, it might lead to higher drop-off rates because of the friction for organic traffic
• There are a lot of shady practices at work on this platform, which open the way to spam and fraud, while exposing your users to it will potentially push them to view your content the same way

• A very high number of bad reviews and forum comments that users leave might cause distrust in your website
• There are a lot of Linkvertise bypassers offering a way out from sitting through timers or watching and interacting with ads, which can interrupt your monetization flow, making it more unstable
• Very long and complicated link-retrieval process – even one of their creator is sharing a video right on Linkvertise teaching their users how to bear through the Linkvertise key-retrieval process, and he becomes frustrated with the process. Imagine a first-time organic user getting on one of these links.

In the video that’s over 5 minutes long, you’ll be able to see several layout overlays, constant redirects, and ad-view requests. And this creator didn’t even encounter the typical 60-minute timer.

The Linkvertise concept is rather interesting, and allowing content creators to add a seemingly non-invasive monetization layer does seem appealing. Especially with the promise of gaining high-visibility and high-engagement additional traffic and monetizing all of it. 

But the reality is very different. 

So, while it can work for creators that are monetizing gated downloads or access-based content, Linkvertise’s own set of rules specifically states that strict settings (which they do encourage for higher RPM) “may cause a significant drop in users reaching your link target”.

Following this in-depth research on Linkvertise, our conclusion points towards the effectiveness and diversity offered by site-wide ad networks, CPA platforms, or Push monetization. Most of all, because these options let you sit in the control room and choose the formats based on your traffic’s likes and interests.
